Based on the timeless masterpiece by Saadat Hasan Manto, Toba Tek Singh is a deeply moving theatrical adaptation that explores the human cost of the Partition of India. Set inside the Lahore Mental Asylum, the play follows a group of inmates who are informed that they will be exchanged between India and Pakistan based on religion. Amid political borders and bureaucratic decisions, one question remains unanswered—where does Toba Tek Singh belong?
Blending satire, emotion, and powerful visual storytelling, the play examines identity, displacement, humanity, and the absurdity of dividing people through borders. While the outside world celebrates freedom, the inmates unknowingly expose the madness of society itself.
Adapted and directed by Dharesh Shukla and enacted by Dr.Kamlesh Bhogayata as a Toba Tek Singh, along with RJ Jayraaj, Parth Dave, Nitya Bhrambhatt, Drishti Madhani, Disha Malaviya, Rut Pandya, Anushka Pandya , Jilmil Jani, Rushi Dave, Vipul Prajapati, Dipen Raval, Rudra Trivedi and founder of Actor's Factory Yash Bhatt,Production Manager Mayur Gohil, this experimental production presents Manto's legendary story with evocative stagecraft, haunting imagery, and compelling performances that leave audiences reflecting long after the curtain falls.
